empowerment

Growth.

Don’t like complacency..

Believe that your best days are yet to come.
We weren’t created to just sit back.

Don’t be satisfied with where you are. Break out of that chapter of your life that you keep reading over and over again.

God loves you enough. And he is strong enough to birth newness in you before the year is through.

God will use your confusion to give you clarity.

In order to get your life fixed, you need to know the fixer.

The first step in growing is to expose yourself.

Expose yourself. Let God minister through you.

Nuggets I’ve picked up along the way. From me, to you.

Peace and love,
Dee

I am determined to be who I was called to be. It matters not if it doesn’t fit the mold of my peers, or my friends. It only matters that I birth all the possibilities within me and believe them as they are. Brilliant, luminous, fresh, true, and necessary for my path.

If there is something you want to do, then do it. We are all wired with specific instincts and this is why some of us are so good at certain things. Don’t short circuit, get into your own internal hard wire that is within you, and let your dreams manifest.

You must believe it.
And if you are going through a rough patch, remember that greater comes later, but don’t ever stop believing.

I am wishing you the best in all your possibilities.

Peace and blessings,
Dee

There are all kinds of negative forces around to keep us stuck, and not believing in ourselves. Before you count yourself out again, let me offer you this.
I’ve often shared a part of what I see as my vison or life dream with another person and I’ve been met with doubt, criticism, and the ultimate, planting the seed of negativity. You have to be aware of the company that you keep. If others are constantly telling you that you aren’t good enough or saying things that make you doubt what your mind is so set on achieving, remove these people from circle of space immediately.

I don’t care how strong you are, you will eventually become a product of your environment. Remove them. You can still love them but your emotional health is on the forefront.

No matter what anyone says, you must never stop trying. If you fail, then try again.
Wake up trying until the thing you want so badly becomes a reality. We can have whatever we want.

Sure, we may have to work for it.

True, it may not be easy.

Of course, we may stumble a few times.
But never, ever, wake up without trying again. Wake up! Or remain sleep.. The choice is yours, so which do you choose. Life, or death..

Just something to think about. I’ve been a member of the negative, I don’t believe you committee myself, and I had to give up the position. It didn’t suit me well, and I refuse to let anyway kill my dreams, and now everyday I wake up trying. Even if it’s starts with a pep talk like this, I wake up!

Peace and love,
Dee

“Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly”.

—Mahatma Gandhi

We’ve all done it, myself included. We’ve stood around and silently watched someone get deceived, hurt, lied to, or mocked, and sat quietly. To make ourselves feel better we say things like,” well, it doesn’t involve me so I’m staying out of it”. Or the all too famous “I’m neutral.”

If you knowingly watch wrongdoing, and go along with it, even if you aren’t the one doing the deed, essentially you kind of are… you are guilty by association. Sorry dude. You just are..

Would you watch your child steal candy from a candy store, and then turn your head and pretend you didn’t see anything because afterall, “it’s just candy.” I would never, but let me be clear, some parents would.

Well, ignoring a wrong, or silently watching it is the same thing.

We must stand up for something. The universe is waiting on us to do something different.

Which side will you choose?

Peace and love,
Dee

You laugh and mock the life I made for you.
How did I get here?
Stripped of myself, my beauty, and… my dreams.

Naked before you,
and the world.
I can’t hide the truth.
I gave it all, and tried my best ,and it still shattered before my eyes.

Before days light,
I’ve cried an ocean for you and with every tear,
I lost a part of me.

I’m tumbling through life and it’s chaotic.
Desperately seeking a peak of the woman I use to be.
The calm comes when I just stand. Something tells me daily, Woman, you must stand!
I hear laughter, and children playing on the carousal of life.
I feel the heat of myself and I quiver in anticipation of meeting me again.
I stand tall.
And you,
are a distant memory of the tears dried by the sun of a new day’s light.
I am me again.
Breathing.
Living beautifully.
Fearfully and wonderfully living out my dreams.
No longer staying down.
I stand.

I wrote that for a friend who was coming out of a bad marriage.
I know we all have our own process,  but it was just my way of saying I was there and that I believed it would pass. She told me the poem really encouraged her and she felt like could indeed STAND.

I love to be an inspiration, as so many have done the same for me.

Has anyone inspired you with words, or actions? Or just by standing with you in truth? Please share your experience.

For the past few days I’ve been on some kind of happy high. I talked about my weekend yesterday and how much joy that brought me. So yea, just an overall good feeling with life and mankind in general. I greatly place emphasis on that mostly do to the overwhelming joy I get from being of service to those in need.
I was just saying how nothing could bring me down from this high I was feeling and then….. a situation occured. I’m not going to go into deep detail because I have truly given it enough power at this point. In a nutshell,  I was harassed and verbally battered by a stranger. When I tell you it was for no reason, that’s the truth. It was a public setting and some idiot decided I was his target. I was so thrown off and upset by this,  that my happy high came to a complete stop.
I couldn’t shake that feeling, it was a funk and a dark cloud, and then I listened to and watched the video below. Let me tell you,  the happy high is back!

“Happy”
It might seem crazy what I’m about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way

Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do

Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah,
well, give me all you got, and don’t hold back, yeah,
well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, yeah,
no offense to you,
don’t waste your time
Here’s why

Hey, come on

happy
bring me down
can’t nothing bring me down
your love is too high
bring me down
can’t nothing bring me down
i said—–let me tell you now
bring me down
can’t nothing bring me down
your love is too high
bring me down
can’t nothing bring me down
i said

Hey, come on

happy
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down… your love is too high…
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down, I said –let me tell you now

come on

That song makes me feel all kinds of good inside. Pharrell is a genius.
That settles it, “Happy” is my new theme song. It’s been out for a few months but it’s fresh for me every time I hear it.
Yet another reason why I love words and music so much. The power to take a whole situation and turn it around is remarkable and phenomenal.
I am happy,  happy,  happy!!
Come on and get you some of this happy,  because happiness is the truth!

Peace and love,
Dee

“Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.”

— Maya Angelou circa 1978 (its my favorite thing to say, yessss that bit right there…Does something to my soul!)

Dr. Maya Angelou is my SHEro.

Unmistakably, one of the most influential voices of our time. She is a beautiful and celebrated poet, author, educator, dramatist, playwright, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker, philanthropist, and civil rights activist.

In a nutshell,  she is EVERYTHING!

Her poetry takes me places that seem familiar, relative, and on a high that I don’t ever want to come down from.
With so many books, speeches, and poems under her belt, it’s hard to pick a favorite,  but for the sake of this post, I’ll settle on this.

Phenomenal Woman

BY MAYA ANGELOU

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.

I say,

It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.

I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room

Just as cool as you please,

And to a man,

The fellows stand or

Fall down on their knees.

Then they swarm around me,

A hive of honey bees.

I say,

It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.

I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much

But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.

I say,

It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.

I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.

I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.

I say,

It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.

’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
